The foundation for my approach is a genuine desire to understand you as a collaborator in the process of psychotherapy. Collaboration honors your knowledge of self and my knowledge of psychological theory and practice. More specifically, I employ a culturally sensitive integrated approach to therapy that combines tenets of cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) with humanistic approaches that value the rapport between client and therapist. Part of this process requires understanding and respect for my client’s lived experience. I see it as my responsibility to lay the foundation for a solid working relationship. I do that by ensuring that the individuals I work with feel understood, cared for and supported. Once this foundation is formed, great work can be done.

My approach sees us both as being equally important to addressing your concerns. For that reason I refrain from providing advice, as I see it more valuable for you to have the proverbial “aha” moment that comes out of therapy. My refrain from giving advice comes out of respect for your individuality and seeing each client as a complex individual with unique experiences who is likely better served with answers obtained from careful consideration and examination.

This approach allows for space to address a myriad of concerns. While I specialize in the treatment of depression, anxiety, ADHD, and issues related to culture/identity, due to my integrative approach, I am able to offer treatment beyond these concerns.
